Marie-Michèle Jasmin-Bélisle is a Montreal-born, New Mexico-raised, California-based writer, director and cinematographer with a passion for luscious dramas and mystical realism. Marie-Michele's career began directing dance films ("Grey Matter”, Montreal Museum of Fine Arts), surrealist narratives ("Desert Haiku", ISEA2012), film-poems ("Ashes to Light", WMM), and documentary features, the latest of which (“Ojibwa Warrior”, AmDocs) recently premiered at an Academy Award qualifying festival in Palm Springs.
 
In the last five years, Marie-Michèle began pivoting towards her true love -period dramas featuring strong female protagonists, unique worlds, and inner/outer journeys filled with resiliency. Her first was “Women of the West”, a proof-of-concept she wrote and directed for a future series, which gathered a few awards such as “Best Cinematography” (Reel East Texas) and “Best series pilot” (Out of the Can, Nottingham, UK). She is currently in post-production for another period drama series pilot, “Witches of New York”, on fortune tellers in 1930s New York City, and recently wrapped a feature for the Santa Fe Opera.
 
MM's work can be found at the NYU Film and Video center, the Smithsonian, the Cinema Guild and has been licensed by Vice Media and Al Jazeera.

She is a member of the Alliance of Women Directors.
