 INTERTIDAL

ready to launch in festival circuit

SYNOPSIS

From ancient Japan to medieval England and modern-day Norway, the story of a man lost at sea is carried over as the goddess deity of Mount Fuji is summoned to look for his soul in the other realms. We land in the domain of Hild, Abbess of Whitby, where local legends blend with reality. A storm begins from her vengeful attempt to save her city from the grasp of raiders, from which the Japanese sailor escapes, untouched, at the request of the goddess of Fuji. Later that night -but a few hundred years later, a family in the Norwegian tip of the North Sea huddles together as the storm rages outside their cabin. They tell their children the story of the sailor, and of Njord, the god of the sea, who spared him. The following morning, on a walk by the water, they discover a shipwrecked wooden chest, in which they find the ammonite stones from the legend of Hild. In the distance, we see a fleeting image of the goddess of Fuji bowing down in appreciation. Time and geography might not be as we originally thought them to be.
